At Bouvardia Coffee, every roast tells a story—a story of passion, creativity, and an unwavering love for coffee. Our name, Bouvardia, comes from a genus of flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family, the same botanical family as coffee. Just like the Bouvardia plant symbolizes vitality and enthusiasm, we pour that same energy into every batch of coffee we craft.
Rooted in Tradition, Inspired by Legacy
Our journey begins in Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee. Growing up, I was surrounded by the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans and the warmth of traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies. The heart of my childhood was filled with bustling coffee shops, where every brew was an invitation to connect, share, and savor.
In 1991, my family took a bold step—we started a coffee roasting business, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for quality coffee. For over a decade, we nurtured this passion, perfecting the craft of roasting. Though the business closed in 2002, the love for coffee never left me. It became a part of who I am, a seed planted deep within my heart, waiting for the right moment to bloom.
A Journey of Rediscovery and Reinvention
After 15 years of chasing the American dream, I realized something was missing. The coffee, the tradition, the deep connection to my roots was calling me back. With the same courage my parents had when they started their business, I took a leap of faith.
I returned to my roots, determined to relearn the art of specialty coffee—but this time, on my terms. What started as a dream rekindled soon became a reality, giving birth to Bouvardia Coffee. This brand blends tradition with innovation, honoring the craftsmanship of coffee roasting while embracing the future of specialty coffee.
